Emily Heralds the Future of Gaming and Movies, Looks Good Doing It
Remember that movie S1m0ne, the one where an aging, miserly producer replaces the "star" actress with a computer-generated "woman" whose box office success warrants a crossover into musical performance, which brings him closer to his surprisingly young (honestly, how old is Al Pacino? 70?) children and yet casts him into an Baudrillardian ethical dilemma between Original, Simulation, Real and, yes, hyper-real?
Neither do I.
But sadly and ironically, this film may be prophetic.
Last week, researchers at Image Metrics, a California-based company that produces computer-generated images for Hollywood productions studios, revealed a video of an employee talking, which, to the untrained eye, appears to be a video of an employee, uh, talking.
